A return to the heart

Yolotl

“Yolotl” means heart in Nahuatl, the ancestral language of this land. This name reflects our deepest intention: to create a nurturing space where children and families can reconnect with their inner essence, with nature, and with ancestral wisdom — slowly, consciously, and joyfully.

A Warm Invitation to Conscious FAMILIES

Yolotl is more than a family retreat — it is a living, soulful experience that honors:
🌱 Presence over performance
🌱 Play over pressure
🌱 Connection over curriculum
We invite you to slow down, breathe deeper, live outdoors, and remember what matters most — together.

"Have we come here to live in vain, to sprout upon the earth? Let us at least leave flowers. Let us at least leave songs."

- Nezahualcóyotl, Mexica poet-king

WHY TLAYACAPAN?

🗺️  50 min from Mexico City | 40 min from Cuernavaca | 90 min from PueblaTlayacapan is a Pueblo Mágico celebrated for its deep‑rooted traditions, dramatic volcanic landscapes, and vibrant folk art. Sacred caves, a 16ᵗʰ‑century convent with ancient murals, colorful markets, and renowned pottery workshops infuse the town with an energy ideal for slow, conscious worldschooling in the heart of Mexico.

This serene sanctuary offers families a nurturing space for learning, healing, and personal growth—an inspiring base from which to explore Tlayacapan’s cultural and natural treasures.

Our Approach:

SOULFUL WORLDSCHOOLING

We practice a living pedagogy from the heart, inspired by transformative educational approaches — yet uniquely rooted in our land, culture, and values.

Our approach integrates:
🌿 Waldorf principles
🌿 Forest School philosophy
🌿 Mexica worldview & indigenous cosmology
🌿 Positive psychology, mindfulness & conscious parenting

This blend gives life to our own soulful and conscious model of learning, designed to nurture the whole child — heart, body, mind, and spirit.

Our experiences nourish the body, mind, emotions, and spirit of each child — and their family.

Well-being practices

Well-being practices are an essential part of our daily rhythm, helping children cultivate emotional balance, self-awareness, and inner harmony. These practices include mindfulness, pre-Hispanic chants, connection rituals with Mother Earth, Qi Gong, children’s yoga, and guided breathing techniques to promote relaxation and focus.

3.png

Mexican Culture

Mexican culture is woven into every aspect of learning—from traditional crafts and ancestral knowledge to storytelling, music, and gastronomy. Children engage in activities that reflect the richness of Mexico’s history, nature, and community life, making learning an immersive, hands-on cultural experience.

Language immersion

Activities are led mainly in English, with natural immersion in Spanish through storytelling, cooking, ceremony, and everyday interactions. Bilingual signage, gentle explanations, and support in French if needed help each child feel at home. We also include playful touches of Nahuatl, the ancestral language of this region, to honor its deep cultural roots.
